I just wonder if Blossman and Tetens Knees hurt from kissing Parnell’s ass and whatever else they do while already there!
The case of Kyle Joseph Nielsen is not an example of the system “working.” It is a brutal indictment of the incompetence, arrogance, and systemic failure that now defines the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office. What happened to Mr. Nielsen is not a mishap — it’s a scandal.
Detective Derek Russell’s failure to verify the basic ownership of a clearly listed email address — one already in his possession — is not a “mistake.” It’s gross negligence. It appears he misread a Post-it note and fabricated links that did not exist. He swore out affidavits riddled with inaccuracies and false assumptions, setting in motion the public destruction of an innocent man’s life. That is not police work. That is reckless endangerment under the color of authority.
And to hear District Attorney Josh Tetens call this a case of the system working is not just tone-deaf — it’s shameful. Mr. Nielsen was dragged 1,250 miles from Utah, publicly labeled a school shooter and sexual predator, jailed under a $200,000 bond, and lost his job in the renewable energy field — all because local authorities were either too lazy or too unqualified to conduct a thorough investigation.
Let’s call this what it is: A catastrophic failure made worse by ego and incompetence at the highest levels. Chief Deputy Cody Blossman and DA Josh Tetens were hand-picked by Sheriff Parnell McNamara, not for their qualifications or experience, but because they are loyal mouthpieces who don’t question orders. Neither has demonstrated the judgment or skill necessary to occupy the positions they currently hold. They are puppets — nothing more — and their blind defense of a deeply flawed investigation proves it.
It was not the Sheriff’s Office or the DA’s team who uncovered the truth. It was Mr. Nielsen’s defense — private investigators and attorneys working tirelessly after the damage was already done — who identified the real perpetrator, located in Canada, and handed that information back to authorities who should have found it in the first place.
And now? No apology from Sheriff McNamara. No accountability from Russell. No acknowledgment of responsibility from Blossman or Tetens. Mr. Nielsen’s life has been permanently scarred by their actions — his name forever attached to vile accusations that were completely unfounded. He will live with the repercussions of their incompetence for the rest of his life.
If there is any shred of justice or integrity left in McLennan County, Russell should be removed and investigated. Sheriff McNamara should publicly apologize, and a court of inquiry should be convened to determine whether criminal misconduct occurred. Civil lawsuits are a step — but they will never fully restore Mr. Nielsen’s good name or the trust that’s been shattered in this community.
This isn’t justice. This is a failure of leadership, accountability, and basic decency.
