This is one of my Captains from the jail. Actually she was the first female to ever Captain the jail. She speaks the truth on so many levels. Truths that I have witnessed for myself. Her and the others did not tuck their tails and run into retirement. They were put in a situation that forced them out. Trust Captain Karen Anderson’s voice. She knows.
Vote Jeff Aguirre For McLennan County Sheriff!!!
“You can’t leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution!”
Our citizens and Sheriff’s Office employees deserve better. When a multitude of people are telling you things are not healthy and transparent on the inside, please listen and ask questions. 600+ employees to include 75 supervisors have left the Sheriff’s Office under McNamara’s tenure. Those 75 supervisors are people he put in place when he took office. THIS IS ALARMING!!! The “name” some of you have come to believe as doing great things for this county has actually allowed more damage on the inside of the department than most can fathom.
The current Sheriff would like you to believe he is on the front lines fighting crime, however, you must know the laws in order to enforce them. The bitcoin lawsuit filed against the Sheriff is the latest example of him practicing McNamara law instead of Texas law. I am not intrigued by him “carrying a badge for 53 years”. A badge can be purchased anywhere by anyone. The current Sheriff is only concerned with obtaining media coverage by talking about “pimps and scumbags” to make himself look good.
He would like you to believe that body cams have been in the works for the past two years when in fact that is another bold face lie. Only in the past few months, right here at election time, has he decided to trial test body cams
. The great men and women on the front lines doing the job every day don’t do it because his name is at the top of the organizational chart. They do it because they are dedicated to the oath they took and to the citizens of this county. Most of these officers were doing this job long before the current Sheriff came into office and will be doing it long after he’s gone.
I personally hold McNamara responsible for the demise of a great organization since his name is at the top of the organizational chart. It is his responsibility to listen to his staff, evaluate issues, and be a productive part of solutions. It is his responsibility to know the staff that work for him and to make himself available to staff. It is his responsibility to show up to Jail staff retirement parties when people have given many years of service and more to the Sheriff’s Office. It’s his responsibility to take time out of his busy day to visit staff who are in the hospital. It is his responsibility to establish policies and procedures and hold those that choose not to follow them accountable. It is his responsibility to ensure a healthy and safe work environment for staff. It is his responsibility to be involved in the daily operations of the department. He has done NONE of this. He talked yesterday at the Republican Club Luncheon about how many meals are prepared and served to inmates each day and how the “logistics are just over the top.” How would he know? Has he ever thought about going out to the Jail and watching the meal line run or observe meals being served? Absolutely NOT. But he sure likes to tell the public and media all about it as if he has first hand knowledge. The 357 employees working at the jail are the ones serving these 4200 meals everyday plus accomplishing a multitude of many other duties that must be done daily. Does he even know what Texas Commission on Jail Standards requirements are regarding inmate meals? I would be willing to bet he does not. Why did the members of SLEAMC, the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Association of McLennan County, not get the opportunity to cast a vote for the person they wanted to endorse? Employees on the inside are scared to say anything for fear of losing their job, but trust me, they are talking about it. Integrity, morals, ethics, character, principles, and values don’t exist!
In March of 2022, I made one of the hardest decisions ever. I retired and walk away from a career I was very passionate about. I was no longer eager to get up each day and put on the uniform I was once very proud to wear. It actually became embarrassing. I felt there was absolutely no support from McNamara in regard to anything Jail related. He never made it a priority to come to the Jail to see what Jail staff were faced with every day. He had no time to talk to his Jail Admin staff when his attendance was requested. There is much to being a Sheriff than getting in front of a news camera and telling the public about the “pimps and scumbags” you throw in Jail. The jail staff go above and beyond and work tirelessly day after day to make sure the Jail passes annual inspections. As a result, there has been no failed inspection since 2008. This is the standard set by leadership that was actively involved in every aspect of Jail operations. McNamara has yet to attended a roll call meeting at the Jail to say Thank You to the men and women that do this job every day, which in turn makes him look VERY good. If the Jail is so important to him, why is he not actively involved in Jail operations? Yet he is always very eager to jump in front of a news camera tell the public how glamorous things are on the inside through his rose colored glasses.
Voters have the ability to make the change McLennan County needs. Jeff has the first hand knowledge, experience, and the mindset needed to make sure these jobs are being done in the most effective way possible. He has done them! He has listened to what the Sheriff’s Office staff are saying. He has witnessed it!!
Please watch Jeff’s interview with Isabella Quintanilla and Tommy Witherspoon in the attached article by Tommy Witherspoon.
