The least of my concerns is whos coat tail the sheriff is flying on. What we should be concerned about is why we have civilian personnel driving around in county patrol cars, marked and unmarked. Most concerning is the Sheriffs office marked 923 police truck, that was recently seen parked at Walmart in the area marked for emergency vehicles. Technically this is an emergency vehicle until a crash happened in front of the female employee, wearing an Sheriff uniform shirt, driving that marked police car was called upon to help. She was quick to unidentify herself as what was an assumed deputy, and refuse to help citing Im not a cop, Im just a jailer, and quickly drove away.
Im sure there is an explanation however, if they are going to drive around the county in the cars we pay for, shouldn’t they at least have the legal authority and responsibility to stop and assist the citizens of McLennan County.
