An officer with the Waco Police Department has been place on administrative leave after allegedly assaulting a resident.
Waco Police Department spokesman Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton released the following statement:
“On June 29th, a resident complained to have been assaulted on the 7000 block of New Sanger by Sgt. Jason Barnum.
Under notification of the incident, our Internal Affairs Unit and a Detective Supervisor immediately began separate investigations into the matter. The complainant in the report declined to file charges, so the criminal case has been closed; however the internal investigation is on-going.”
Sgt. Jason Barnum is described to be a 15 year veteran with the Waco Police Department.
