READER RANT QUESTIONS AGUIRRE TOO

I am a lot of things, a lot of them bad, but I’d like to think that at the end of the day, (after some surprise perhaps) given time, I am a reasonable person. I think we all are and together you in law enforcement can get together in reasonableness without an application containing loyalty to the Sheriff, which I think starts things off wrong, together you can do this and respect eachother as equals. I am a sappy old person though but, we’ll watch, make mistakes, try not to shoot a dog, and we’ll keep going on. Par is the past, you young people are the future. Not him. H

HAVE AT….MAKES SENSE

Let me start this by saying I am not against Jeff Aguirre. I believe he brings a lot to the table as far as experience, and that he would do well as sheriff. I will say it’s interesting to see some of the previous higher ups that are endorsing him and the points they are making in doing so. While I’m sure patrol has its issues, lets be honest and admit that the jail is the main problem area. They speak of the current climate in the sheriffs office (mainly the jail) and how employees are afraid to speak up, the good ol boy system, and begging for change. Are they forgetting that THEY started this? There are previous lieutenants and captains from the jail that had these same issues, and left them unattended. They are quick to speak of the problems in this administration…YOU SERVED IN THIS ADMINISTRATION. You served under parnell. For years. And did not fix these issues. Morale, arguably the biggest factor in the turnover rate, has been down because people were not treated well. You don’t need the sheriffs permission to treat employees well. “120% turnover rate over 10 years. Almost 600 people left an agency that only employees 500”. Conoley, evans, spruill, blossman, and everybody else that gets dragged have not been in positions of authority over the jail for 10 years…..BUT YOU WERE. They are not without issue, there’s absolutely no denying that. But they are the chick, hatched from the egg that YALL laid. People were afraid to speak up to yall also. I never saw parnell in the jail, but I saw yall…plenty. I hope Jeff wins this election, I really do. But I hope these are not the people he will be staffing in his authority positions. Karen Anderson said “these dedicated staff members are begging for change” and maybe they are…but yall are not the change they want.
