One used to have friends who were affected by the polio virus of the 50’s. Withered arm, withered leg, wheelchair, you don’t see them anymore. The young people don’t see them and maybe never have. Most all had lung problems for life, bouts of pneumonia, and other illnesses.
Our parents had no clue what was going on we didn’t quarantine, hell, we all went to church daily and prayed. Our parents were still stinging from “the war” and my mom wouldn’t let me eat snow that winter, she was scared of radiation and polio.
In 1957 the Asian Flu went around, I remember that one for sure. People died and I had the flu, memories of the skeletal pain, high fever, and lost weeks in bed are still memorable after 50 years.
Now we have the pristeen environment of the wealthy and I know more than one “germphobe”, I love laughing at them behind their back.
Last night there was a run on toilet paper at Sam’s and also at the HEB, which is also kind of funny since, personally, I can’t wait to use the Waco Tribune Herald for what it’s really made for just like we used the Taylor Daily Press back in the 50’s.
Last night our President used the words, “foreign virus”, and I wonder if the virus knows it’s foreign. Too bad it isn’t from Mexico, Trump could party down on that one.
We have billionaires and I am sure they have “help” people who clean for them, cook their food, and I imagine Ivanka has never cleaned up vomit or diarrhea herself, had someone else do it.
Pandemics also have a stock market crash, this followed by suicides, executives jumping from windows. Guess when faced with being poor death is better?
The virus may go away, hell, I don’t know, but if it doesn’t those who don’t know how to actually DO anything will have some problems. If the virus hits the homeless populations of Austin, Los Angeles, and other cities, or the prison system, we got problems.
Iran “furloughed” 70,000 inmates from their prisons three days ago. Italian prisoners are sitting ducks and rioting in a petri dish sized cell.
Those who don’t learn from history are forced to repeat it and this is what we have now.
When Gerald Ford made us all get vaccinated for SWINE FLU we ridiculed him, hell, that plus pardoning Nixon did him in and made him a one termer President.
Get ready, viruses don’t care who you are, they don’t care how much money you have, someone has to clean the toilet. If the maid doesn’t show up Ivanka may just have to DIY.
That thought just makes me smile.
Time to grow up and read something besides listening to the Orange Expert on everything in the White House.
