I’m sure most of you saw this back in 1998. The Last Posse did NOT find out who stole Parnells horse. Here is the True story.

I was a Detecive in 1998 with the Sheriff Dept under the Great Jack Harwell.

I received a call from Waco PD officer Sanchez, he said he was working the theft of Parnell McNamaras horse and he didn’t know Jack diddly about horses.

At least he was honest. He asked if the Sheriff Dept. Could take over the case and I went to my Captain and we decided to take the case.

At the time I was working on a burglary ring that was hitting McLennan County residents. Long story short, we caught the thieves and interrogated them.

I was interviewing a girl and told her she was looking at 21 burglaries. She asked if there was anything she could do to help herself. I told her I would listen.

She said “what if I told you who stole Parnell McNamaras horse”.

I told her she had my attention. She gave me the names of the thieves and she was involved. I got a written statement and all I had to do was get a warrant.

CASE CLOSED.

I called Parnell and told him and told him the horse was taken to Oklahoma, which could make it a Federal Case. Parnell and Federal attorney Bill Johnston came to my office and said they could take the case and get a Federal warrant.

We gave the case to them because the thieves would get more time Federally.

Parnell and his Last Posse did NOT catch the thieves as they told the Texas Monthly, he is NOT a legend folks
