Every homeowner will feel this tax increase, but don’t fool yourself into thinking it only affects property owners. Landlords will pass these higher taxes on through increased rent. Businesses will raise prices to cover higher operating costs. In the end, every resident of McLennan County pays the price.
County leaders want taxpayers to believe this increase is simply the cost of providing public safety. The real question is: How much of this cost is the result of years of poor leadership, bad decisions, and a lack of accountability? Thank you Parnell!!
When the Sheriff’s Office and jail are plagued by management failures, staffing shortages, excessive turnover, costly overtime, lawsuits, investigations, and decisions that should have never been made in the first place, taxpayers become the ones writing the check. The people responsible don’t pay for those failures—the citizens do. Thank you Parnell!!
Before asking families, retirees, landlords, renters, and business owners to dig deeper into their pockets, county officials should explain why taxpayers are expected to finance the consequences of mismanagement. Competent leadership saves money. Poor leadership costs millions.
Public safety is too important to be treated as a political jobs program or a place where loyalty outweighs qualifications. Every dollar wasted because of incompetence is a dollar taken from the hardworking people of this county. Again thank you Parnell!
McLennan County taxpayers deserve more than higher taxes. They deserve qualified leadership, fiscal responsibility, and officials who are willing to hold department heads accountable instead of expecting citizens to continuously absorb the cost of government failures.
Remember y’all Burson was handpicked by Parnell and has 0 management skills, just another good ole boy to keep the system running….
