PAT CURRY TO INTRODUCE CHILD PROTECTION LAW

“The people that live around him deserve to know that this gentleman has admitted to a crime such as this and I’m sorry I’m not going to stand idly by and just let that happen,” Curry said.

Harry tried to dislike Pat Curry. Inundated with Reader Rants and messages he seemed to be everything I disliked and must admit, just categorized him without much thought.

The last three years have made me “stop and ponder” different people and different circumstances when I stopped being blinded by opinions and actually, stopped and pondered someone.

Pat Curry. Here goes.

I ran with a lot of stuff against him never gave it a thought until I was faced with seeing, talking with, and pondering Pat Curry in person.

I walk in thinking I’m not going to be liked, probably defensive, and ready for whatever in my brain “this kind of guy” is going to throw at me.

I will say this in my defense, I don’t mind being wrong, I kind of like being wrong about people in fact.

Never was I Pat Curry’s enemy just put him in a slot with everyone else.

He’s all that. Yes, there I said it.

He can actually talk to a woman, he has easy going statesman like body language, he’s tall without being imposing and, unlike a lot of men, you could tell he actually liked women. Yeah, yeah, he has multiple marriges, I get it, but he likes women, there’s a difference. The Pat Curry I talked to was the best thing his campaign has going for it.

He’s also funny and has a laugh that is infectous and until I found out his opponent, Ralph Patterson was “The Stallion”, and read the Court documents I would have stayed out of the race even though a whole lot of people wanted me to back Patterson, all women by the way.

He knows the women who don’t like him and after winning by a large “kiss my ass” majority of 69% Pat Curry actually agonizes about “how to make it better” between him and them. Go figure.

My new advice for all men, young and old is to just give yourself to women. Let women tell you what to do and you’ll be a lot better off.

Rep. Curry talked with many women involved in the Hoffman case and they called me and said, “I thought he was one of the “good old boys” and he’s not”, and other cool things along with getting my opinion.

This is a damned good, great idea and on the eve of the Hoffman sentencing you should hear something good from Harry for a change.

Don’t worry, we’ll be back to putting panties on heads etc. by Wednesday.

Pat Curry faced with the “right thing to do”, did the right thing, hell, tweaked it some too.

69% of the vote that’s what Pat Curry got this go around, that’s a fact too.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A Texas House representative is now drafting new legislation aimed at protecting children after a former Waco attorney pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges and will serve 30 days in jail.

Former Waco attorney Adam Hoffman recently pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges: indecent assault and displaying harmful material to a minor.

He was initially charged with a first-degree felony of continuous sexual abuse of a young child by the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office.

The McLennan County DA’s office later recused themselves from the case, citing ethical reasons.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office took over the case and offered a plea bargain that reduced the charges to two Class A misdemeanors.

During a trial last year, the jury was deadlocked at 7 to 5 in favor of a guilty verdict, resulting in a mistrial.

According to the plea deal made after the mistrial, Hoffman will spend 30 days in jail beginning Monday, but he is not required to register as a sex offender.

Waco attorney Robert Callahan said the reduced sentencing may be to resolve the trial without putting further burden on the victims, as well as guaranteeing accountability from the defendant.

“What it took to prosecute the case and the outcome having given their best, maybe the AG’s office decided I don’t know if we could win next time, and so speaking to their complainant – do you want to go through this all again, or would you rather there be some measure of accountability where he is in fact given a conviction and bears the stigma and bears the responsibility of pleading guilty,” Callahan said.

Proposed legislation

Texas House Representative Pat Curry said he was contacted by the family and began drafting multiple laws to bring to the next legislative session.

“The people that live around him deserve to know that this gentleman has admitted to a crime such as this and I’m sorry I’m not going to stand idly by and just let that happen,” Curry said.

Curry said he wants to pass a law requiring anyone who admits to a sexual crime against a child to register as a sex offender, establishing a minimum punishment for child sex crimes, as well as laws to protect children testifying in court.

“I do think that there should be, even if you plea to a deal if you admit to that crime there should be a minimum punishment, and you know that’s something I’d like to try,” Curry said.

Family response

KWTX spoke to the victim’s mother over the phone, and she said it was traumatic for her son to face his abuser in court.

She said they are happy that Hoffman pleaded guilty, but his sentence needs to change, wanting Hoffman to face prison time.

She said they will be joining Curry in his fight to change laws in order to protect their community.

She also told KWTX previously that her son would have braced himself to testify again if needed at the retrial.

McLennan County District Attorney Josh Tetens shared a statement online saying his office has no involvement in the handling or resolution of this case.

He said he has no comment at this time about the plea offer to Hoffman.

Hoffman’s attorney, Gerry Morris, said he will not comment until the case is over.

Hoffman’s sentencing date is Monday, April 27.

The Attorney General’s media team did not respond to a request for comment.
