READER RANT BULLSHIT TOWN HALL

HURTS, DON’T IT?

A person wearing a wide-brimmed hat riding a lawn mower on a grassy path, with blurred greenery in the background and the text 'RIDIN HERD ON THE LAWLESS' at the top.

How comforting. Sheriff Parnell McNamara hosting a town hall with Hispanic leaders to explain expanded ICE cooperation. What could possibly go wrong?

We’re told this was about transparency and community trust — which is a bold claim, considering this is the same sheriff whose long-whispered reputation around the courthouse includes racially charged language, slurs, and even casually throwing around the N-word. But sure, let’s call this “dialogue.”

It’s also nice to see him finally show up for work, since he’s been largely absent since the election. Funny how community engagement improves when the cameras are on.

And just as a reminder for anyone keeping score: this is also a sheriff whose office is under investigation over allegations of stealing from taxpayers. So yes — the lecture on accountability really hits different.

Nothing reassures a community quite like being told “don’t worry” by someone whose record raises serious questions about both respect and integrity. Policies don’t enforce themselves — people do. And character has a way of showing up on the job.

This wasn’t outreach.

It was optics.

And not even subtle ones.
