Public Outcry READER RANT

  • How are people not furious right now?
How are the taxpayers — the very people footing the bill for this circus — not standing shoulder to shoulder demanding answers? Every dime of county money wasted on vanity projects, personal favors, and “good ol’ boy” errands is a slap in the face to every citizen who works, pays taxes, and expects at least a shred of accountability in return. It’s mind-blowing that a sheriff can use deputies like hired help on his private property, and the response isn’t outrage but silence. Silence! That’s how corruption thrives — not because it’s hidden, but because too many people have grown numb to it.The misuse of taxpayer dollars should set this community on fire with anger. This isn’t just a lapse in judgment; it’s outright abuse of power. Public servants treating public funds like their personal piggy bank while citizens struggle to make ends meet — that should make every decent person’s blood boil.Where’s the outrage? Where’s the demand for audits, resignations, and real reform? Because until the people get angry — righteously, unapologetically angry — this rot will keep spreading, and the same names will keep cashing checks built on our silence. The fact that the public isn’t in the streets over this is almost as shocking as the corruption itself. Make your voice heard!

➡ Why: These are the elected officials who oversee the budget, approve contracts, and for too long have looked the other way. They too must hear from you.🗣 What to say when you call
    • State clearly you’re calling about suspected misuse of taxpayer dollars and favoritism within the sheriff’s department (or whichever department you believe).Ask for action: “Will you open (or support) an investigation?” “Will you hold a public meeting and release the audit results?”Demand transparency: “Why were deputies doing personal tasks for the sheriff on county time? What oversight exists? Will the Commissioners publish all contracts and payrolls for review?”Make it personal: “I pay taxes. I deserve to know how my money is being spent. I won’t accept half‐answers.”
    🔥 Why your call matters
    • Silence breeds corruption. The very fact that this misuse has dragged on means the community isn’t loud enough — yet. It’s our money. These are tax dollars being diverted from roads, schools, health services into vanity projects and insider deals.Integrity cannot wait. Leadership built on legacy, friendship, and “brotherhood” is not leadership. It’s entitlement. You are the power. Elected and appointed officials may not move until they feel the pressure. Your call starts that pressure.
  • Do it today. Pick up the phone. Send emails. Attend the next Commissioners Court meeting. Bring others with you. Make the stakes crystal clear: we will no longer tolerate a system that protects insiders instead of serving citizens. This is not partisan. It is fundamental. We demand leaders who serve the people, not themselves. Are you ready to take the next step?
