Lacy Lakeview man gets probation after pleading to lesser charge in child sexual assault case
A Lacy Lakeview man pleaded guilty to a felony charge of injury to a child and was sentenced Friday to 10 years of deferred adjudication probation, including five years under a supervision program.
Damorian Cordell McGowan was initially indicted on a second-degree felony charge of sexual assault of a child stemming from a July 2024 incident.
During a hearing Friday, Judge Thomas West of Waco’s 19th State District Court approved a plea deal on the injury to a child charge. The agreement does not require sex offender registration, but the terms include remote phone monitoring, semiannual polygraph tests and strict bans on watching sexually explicit content. Thomas warned McGowan that even brief scenes in movies could lead to failed tests and potential probation violations.
